Location, location, location

The location of a store is one of the most important and most costly decisions a retailer must make to accomplish long-term success. A lot of retailers prioritize being near their consumers. This co-location in the sector leads to retail clusters.
The seminar will be held in English.

HUI Research and Handelns Utvecklingsråd have invited Özge Öner to speak about retail location in Gothenburg on the 17th of April 2015. The seminar concerns the results from studies where Özge has investigated the retail market. During the seminar she will answer questions such as: what is the relationship between consumption possibilities and place attractiveness? What underlining location dynamics have an impact on retail markets and should a business co-locate with another business on the retail market?
She will also explain how the market potential can be explained by factors such as residential location, the willingness of consumers to travel as well as the location or concentration of retail businesses.

Özge Öner is a Research Fellow at Institutet för Näringslivsforskning, as well as Jönköping International Business School. Her research deals with several issues in relation to spatial determinants of consumption, particularly focusing on the location dynamics of retail markets.
